Rebate Programs

Curb Rebate Program

A property owner shall first complete a Curb Rebate Application. The curb rebate program consists of the property owner hiring a contractor to construct curbing along the adjacent lines of their property.  The City of Higginsville in turn has all curb cuts surveyed, provides the gravel base material for final grade and completes all backfill for both sides of the curb.  When work is complete and is accepted by the Street Superintendent the City of Higginsville reimburses the property owner $12.00 per foot of curbing constructed.

Contractors are to contact City Hall or the Street Superintendent of their intent to begin construction of curbing at least three days prior to commencing work.  The contractor or owner shall make all contacts necessary to have utilities marked before construction.  All excavation material shall be placed by the contractor into the street for pickup by the Street Department.  All excavated materials shall be placed in a manner as to not block the traffic flow.  Traffic cones are available at the Street Department Building and should be picked up before excavation.

Sidewalk Rebate Program

A property owner shall first complete a Sidewalk Rebate Application.  The sidewalk rebate program consists of the property owner hiring a contractor to construct a 4’ wide concrete sidewalk along the adjacent street lines of the property.  Generally, all construction will be provided by the contractor including grading and backfill after placement of the concrete.  The Street Department will remove the existing sidewalk upon proper notification.  After completion and acceptance by the Street Superintendent the City of Higginsville reimburses the property owner $2.00 per square foot.
