Board of Zoning Adjustment

 Responsibilities:
This board hears and decides appeals when an applicant requests an exception to the Zoning Ordinance.  This board is unique in that, unlike the other City boards and commissions, its decisions are final.  No recommendations are made for the Board of Aldermen to act upon.  Appeals of board decisions are referred to the Circuit Court of Lafayette County.  The board consists of six members including one alternate and are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen.
